Canned Heat formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, Ca and are one year away from their 60th anniversary.
Canned Heat played the Venice West Saturday Night (3/30) The current lineup is Conan O’Brien’s Basic Cable Band band leader Jimmy Vivino (Guitar/Vocals) since 2019, bassist Rick Reed also since 2019, guitarist/harmonica player Dale Wesley Spalding since 2008, and on drums none other than Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra who joined back in 1967 becoming the group’s second drummer. That same year Canned Heat played the Monterey Pop Festival. Fito has been on all the group’s releases excluding the debut album. Canned Heat has had around 60 members in its history. Of their Woodstock lineup, the only surviving members are Fito and guitarist Harvey “The Snake” Mandel who had a few tenures with the group most recently 2010-2014. 

This show celebrated the release of the group’s first album in 15 years Finyl Vinyl and included two special guests on the album, guitarist Dave Alvin and Wally Ingram (TIMBUK3/ David Lindley). From their Woodstock setlist the first song of the show “On the Road Again,” “Up The Country” and the last song of the set “Woodstock Boogie” were performed.
