There are certain unattainable pairings in rock and roll that will always remain part of our imaginary lore, our wishful thinking, our “what if’s”. But in the world of first rate elite tribute acts those boundaries and closed doors can be kicked open for all our musical glory. Such a classic rock pairing occurred recently at The Canyon Club and Event Center in Agoura Hills when that monster tribute to Queen known around these parts as Queen Nation took the stage at 9:00pm and placed a magical grip on the crowd for the next nearly 90 mins playing classic rock music by Queen. Lead by the ultra charismatic Gregory Finsley who will completely jolt your senses with his dead-on Mercury vocal in both strength and subtle nuances takes command of the stage along with his cohorts the virtuoso on guitar Mike McManus, the indispensable Parker Combs on bass guitar & Pete Burke leading the solid pocket on drums, the band rips through their set like a hot knife through butter. It’s good, clean(on stage), hard rockin music that feels 100 times better performed live.

There are maybe a handful of California bands in pop/rock history that have contributed more to music in general with now familiar names such as The Eagles, Santana, CSN&Y…..and this includes the San Francisco based band Journey. Although the band has been through many changes over the years their solid core fan base has never left them. DSB – Tribute to Journey(Don’t Stop Believing) has got the goods, the styling’s and the musical chops to bring their musical catalog to life, live and in living color. And boy can this band deliver. Juan Del Castillo in the unenviable role as Steve Perry never seems to look back at the road set forth in front of him at every show. He’s all at once bright, funny, engaging and best of all he dude can sing those famous Perry vocal. The dude ain’t bad looking too…guys, we hate him…right? Kidding, but in all seriousness Juan Del Castillo fits this role perfectly. Bravo Juan. Not to be left out in the cold, he is surrounded by a talented troop lead by Roger Cain on guitar, Tony Love on Bass guitar, Henry O’Neil on Keyboards & the newest guy in the band Mr Danny Berglund who is as solid on that back beat as anyone ever was behind a drum kit.
