The John Lennon 75th Birthday Milestone Celebration took place Friday, October 9 in front of Capitol Records (1750 Vine Street, Los Angeles 90028) at John’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
5:30pm- Walk of Fame star polisher Dennis Garling cleaned and polished John’s star.
6:00- Signing of large ‘John Lennon Birthday Peace Card’ that will be sent to Yoko Ono, and viewing of special John Lennon sidewalk chalk art peace mural created by Lesley Perdomo.
6:15- Welcome by peace activist Jerry Rubin.
6:20- Opening song ‘Imagine‘ by opera soprano Shayne Dalva.
6:25- Presentation of ‘John Lennon Peace Day’ resolution by Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell.
6:30- Song ‘In My Life’ performed by TEE-M (Tariq Mirza) and Al the Bassman.
6:35- Highlighted cake-cutting ceremony led by Chris Carter, KLOS FM radio host of ‘Breakfast With the Beatles’. (John’s 75th and the 40th for John and Yoko’s son, Sean)
6:50- Featured Speaker Jim Ladd, longtime radio personality, disc jockey and current host on Sirius XM Radio.
6:55- Performance artist Gregory Adamson created to music a large mural of John Lennon.
7:10- Special Guest Speaker Randy Lewis, Los Angeles Times pop music writer.
7:15- Special Guest Speaker- Les Perry, KCSN FM radio host of ‘Saturday With the Beatles‘.
7:20- Thank you announcements- Jerry Rubin
7:22- Open mic started with the duo ‘Two of Us’ followed by other performers and poets.
8:00- Closing Circle of Peace with a sing-along to John’s ‘Give Peace a Chance’
