This past Monday evening at The Whisky, UDR showcased a number of promising new bands from their growing roster. The showcase kicked off shortly after 5 P.M. and featured openers MDK Melvin, Sonia Harley & Viceroy Crux. Around 6:45 P.M., Budderside, fronted by former Adler’s Appetite singer Patrick Stone, took the stage and instantly stirred up the crowd. Lucky enough to open for Lemmy’s side project HeadCat in February, the band has gained a certain fan base while getting ready to get the machine rolling. In fact, Lemmy was in attendance for the UDR band showcase. Catchy tunes, great vocals, rhythmic drum and bass sections — those are all the things that make Budderside a band you’ll want to see next.
Once At War, featuring extremely young but undeniably talented Nik Kai on a guitar, took the stage shortly after 7 P.M. Once At War delivered a very alternative, post-hardcore sound; the guitar solos of 14-year-old Kai surely added some spice to the performance, making the band another interesting music act to follow.
Others, a new band that has been tearing up the L.A. music scene for several month headlined the showcase. Fronted by Joe Colover, who is quite an interesting performer, Others kicked off their set with catchy rock n roll tune KEEP ME ON, followed by several of their regular songs, and closed with the new jam 1000 YEARS.
