Hit Like A Girl is a global, online contest for female drummers that drew competitors from 45 countries in 2014.
Now in its fourth year, the 2015 event is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

March 12, 19, 26, April 2, 9. Two pairs of Weekly Winners will be chosen by celebrity/industry judging teams and announced March 12, 19, 26, April 2, 9 with the entry period closing
April 10 –April 22 Fan Voting Takes Place
April 23 The Top Twenty Weekly and fan-selected finalists in both the over and under 18 age divisions will be announced
April 24 – May 4. Celebrity Judging Takes Place
May 7. The final winners will be chosen during an online event
Complete acoustic, electronic or hybrid drum kits and accessories will be awarded to the first, second, and third finishers in both Under 18 and Over 18 categories.
The value of all prizes exceeds $15,000.
HLAG Ambassadors represent nearly 2 dozen countries around the world and are responsible for expanding the awareness of drumming and increasing participation in the contest by organizing promotional activities through their local and social media contacts.
Free Play-Along Tracks
A selection of more than a dozen free, downloadable play-along tracks for this year’s contest are being provided courtesy of Hudson Music, Drum Fun, and Gregg Bissonette. (Entrants may use the royalty-free tracks to avoid copyright issues with their entry)
Background: The Hit Like A Girl Contest was founded by DRUM!, Tom Tom Magazine, and TRX Cymbals in 2012.
To date, there have been nearly 1,200 entrants from 42 countries, half a million fan votes, and more than 6,000,000 web hits.
Past contestants have gone on to big gigs including 2012 winner D’Arcus Curry (T-Pain); 2012 contestant Venzella Joy (Beyonce); 2014 Runner-Up Anika Nilles (YouTube Star) and 2014 champion Riesha Fayson.
For 2015, Hit Like A Girl is expanding its reach with the International Ambassador program; a worldwide network of female drummers promoting the contest and benefits of drumming to local players and professionals.
