  1. […] #1 – Robin Zander Surprise Performance at Lucky Strike Although this happened very recently it would more than likely still be the number one moment on my list. I also have to give a big thumbs up to Chip Smith for continuing to push me into covering the Ultimate Jam Night at Lucky Strike. For personal reasons I was unable to attend these Wednesday night events but Chip kept offering the invite again and again. I finally said yes and having no idea it was the last Jam night of 2015 and being somewhat unaware of many of the musicians scheduled to perform I felt at the end of the evening like I had struck gold. Why?  Because on this night Lucky Strike was also the host to a very unique surprise evening. Cheap Trick had performed a concert in the City of Riverside earlier in the evening. Daxx Nielsen, the bands drummer decided after their show he wanted to drive up to Hollywood to Lucky Strike and hang out.  He also invited lead singer Robin Zander to tag along. After showing up, Daxx & Robin were hanging out backstage when Zander’s manager called to say Cheap Trick was just announced as a 2016 inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  With this amazing news Robin agreed to perform with the house band and Daxx on drums. Riki Rachtman introduced everyone and the band broke out “Dream Police” with Robin singing his classic song. It was such a adrenaline rush that the band and Robin sang a second song, “Surrender”.  Now here’s what made this an over the top experience for me.  During the last instrumental solo in Dream Police, Zander sat down right in front of me and began mugging for the camera people, myself included.  I reached out my hand to shake his and after letting go Robin then licked his fingers. Shazam!  Was that a cool moment or what? […]
