Since the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires in January, the city of Los Angeles has come together to help our fire departments and those affected by the fires. Musician Alex Jules (The Monkees/ Bebopalula Band) put together an all star lineup of artists and comedians, many either from L.A. or long time residents. The evening’s host was comedian Paula Poundstone. The first performance came from Weird Al Yankovic, a native of Downey/Lynwood, CA. Yankovic performed Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A,” which had been the opening song of the Grammy’s this year. The lineup continued with performances and comedy from Reggie Watts, (Late Show with James Corden), Melissa Villasenor (SNL), Neil Hamburger, Tim Heidecker, Puddles Pity Party, Nancy Sinatra, Paul Shaffer (David Letterman), Bob the Drag Queen, and Jennifer Jo Oberle was also the house band bassist (Sarah McLachlan). Following an intermission the show resumed with Peter Asher (Peter & Gordon), Rufus Wainwright, Chris Stills, Mark Proksch, Chris Fleming and returning performers Heidecker, Puddles, and Weird Al. Beach Boys’ co-founder Al Jardine performed three songs at the end and there was a grand finale with Monty Python’s Eric Idle and all performers (artists & comedians) for “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” from Life of Brian.)
