“My Dream”, the single from Middle Child Syndrome set to come out on Friday, May 31st.
“My Dream” is about a girl that Middle Child Syndrome’s Matt Mueller met in his dreams. The song is filled with fairytale references that go hand and hand with the buildup, catchy chorus and enticing guitar solos. “The basics of the song – chords, verse lyrics and overall structure – was actually written years ago on acoustic guitar. There was a simplified guitar intro that, when moved to the strat, prompted a waterfall of lead guitar parts that really drives the entire song, and was really the most fun to write. I spent a lot of time on sound design of the lead guitar; it had to sound rich & full-bodied, which is tough to do when recording at home with limited equipment”.
Middle Child Syndrome redefines boundaries of solo, independent musician creativity and versatility. Matt Mueller, the sole contributor from initial songwriting through production, commits everything to his eclectic indie-rock tracks. This ultra-DIY approach, complemented by infectious hooks, relatable narratives and his sonorous voice, yields an organic and immersive listener experience.
While Matt considers himself to be a lifelong student of music, his formal education & career are in mechanical engineering, and after 12+ years, Matt left corporate America to fully commit to his musical journey.
“Listen To Me,” releasing June 2024, is the artist’s multifaceted first album and navigates listeners across diverse soundscapes.
