Steel Panther and the Effect Band played the House of Blues Anaheim February 2nd and played the House of Blues San Diego the night before. The Effect band is made up of rock legends Phil Collins and Steve Lukather’s (Toto) sons Trev (Guitar) and Nic (Drums) with Toto keyboardist since 2020 Steve Maggiora and vocalist Emmett Lee Stang who also has an acting background. The band played their debut gig at the Knitting Factory on October 15th, 2023. 

Steel Panther (previously Metal Shop and Metal Skool) has been around the Sunset Strip since 2000 having had weekly residencies at the Viper Room, Key Club and House of Blues Sunset. After the House of Blues Sunset closed in 2015, Steel Panther would play the Fonda Theater, Whisky A Go Go, The Roxy, and even return to the Viper Room. Outside the U.S. Steel Panther has played several major Metal festivals like Download. 2023 was a big year for the band with the release of their sixth album “On The Prowl” and appearing on America’s Got Talent. Originally formed as a parody band with former Van Halen tribute band Atomic Punks frontman Ralph Saenz (Michael Starr) and guitarist Russ Parrish (Satchel) with former David Lee Roth (now Korn) drummer Ray Luzier and bassist Lexxi Foxx. Stix Zadinia would become the drummer in 2003 and Lexxi would be the bassist until 2021 and Joe Lester (Spyder) also a member of Atomic Punks would become a permanent replacement in 2022.

Steel Panther played a setlist of 14 songs including hits like “Tomorrow Night,” “Just Like Tiger Woods,” and “Death to All But Metal” and newer songs like “Never Too Late (to Get Some Pussy Tonight” which was the opening song “Friends with Benefits” and “1987.” The set included a guitar solo by Satchel as always and the encore was “Gloryhole.”
