Legendary British Progressive-Rock band Jethro Tull played the Greek Theater September 27th on their The Seven Decades tour. Whether with Jethro Tull or solo, frontman Ian Anderson has played the Greek a number of times in his 55+ year career. Jethro Tull is Anderson on flute and lead vocals, bassist David Goodier, keyboardist John O’Hara, drummer Scott Hammond, and newest member guitarist Joe Parrish. The group took a five year hiatus between 2012 and 2017. The group would begin to tour again in 2017 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of their debut album. This was a no cell phone show until the last song of the set. The 16-song set was broken up into two sets. Set one began with “Nothing is Easy,” and ended with Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Bouree in E minor.” After an intermission, set two kicked off with “Farm on the Freeway” and ended with “Aqualung.” The group returned for a one song encore of “Locomotive Breath.”
Jethro Tull has influenced the likes of Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Dream Theater’s John Myung, Rush’s Geddy Lee, Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris, Joe Bonamassa, and more. Jethro Tull still tours globally to this day.
